Arthur Paul Pollard, 74, a longtime resident of Liberty, MO, passed away December 27, 2008 at his home, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Tuesday evening, December 30th, at the Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at M-291 Hwy., Liberty. Funeral Services with a Masonic Service by the Liberty Masonic Lodge will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 31st, at the chapel. Burial will follow in the Cowgill Cemetery, Cowgill, MO. In lieu of flowers, you may honor Art with a memorial contribution to the Ararat Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, MO 64129.
Art was born September 27, 1934 in Cowgill, MO, the son of Raymond and Hattie May (Cook) Pollard. He worked 27 years as a switchman for the Burlington Northern Railroad, and also owned and operated the Liberty Custom Shower Door Company for 32 years before he retired. Art was a member of the Claycomo Baptist Church, the Liberty Masonic Lodge, and Ararat Shrine Temple. At Ararat, Art was a member of the Ole Car Unit. He was also a member of the Early Ford V8 Club. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sherl Ann; a son, Paul Bradley Pollard; a brother, Harold Dean Pollard; and a nephew, Danny Ray Pollard. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Shirley Sue (Clevenger) Pollard; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Jim Parsons; a daughter-in-law, Saundra Pollard; three grandchildren, Myra Simmons, Nicole Pollard, and Trenton Pollard; a great grandson, Jerrel Dorsey; three brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Billie Pollard, Donald and Greta Pollard, and Ronald and Georgia Pollard; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
