In Memory: Billy J. Hampton

Billy Joe Hampton, 75, of Claycomo, MO, passed away September 16, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm with Masonic services at 7:00 pm Sunday evening, September 20, at the Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at 291 Hwy., Liberty.  Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Monday, September 21, at the chapel.  Burial with military honors will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Ararat Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, MO 64129.

Billy was born August 2, 1934 in Carroll County, MO.  He served in the U. S. Army.  He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 101. Billy was a member of Claycomo Baptist Church.  He was raised a
Master Mason at the Bosworth (MO) Masonic Lodge and is currently a life member of Rising Sun Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the York Rite Bodies and Ararat Shrine Temple.  At Ararat, Billy was a longtime member of the Drum and Bugle Corps and volunteered for many years as a driver for Shrine hospital patients and their families to St. Louis. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 369.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Gladys (Daugherty) Hampton; an infant son, Douglas Warren Hampton; and two brothers, Norman and Donald Hampton.  He leaves his wife of 54 years, Margaret; children, Joyce Locke, Tim Hampton, Rebecca Stalker and Billy Daniel Hampton; sister, Ava Neil Baker; brother, Dale Hampton; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Hampton and Patricia Whittall; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
