John P. Middaugh, known as Hippie John to his many friends and co-workers, passed away October 26, 2009 at K. U. Medical Center following a long battle with cancer. Visitation will begin at 5:30 pm, followed by Masonic services at 7:00 pm, on Friday October 30, 2009 at the Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at 291 Highway, Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Ararat Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund or to the American Cancer Society.
John was born November 28, 1948 in Bethany, MO, the son of Earl and Genevieve (Ragan) Middaugh. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1973 and was a member of the VFW. He was a Pipe Fitter at the Ford Motor Company Claycomo Plant over 30 years and was a member of |

| the Pipe Fitters’ Local #533. He was a member and past master of the Angerona Masonic Lodge #93 at Missouri City, was a member of the York Rite Bodies, as well as Ararat Shrine Temple. At Ararat, Hippie was a longtime member of the Director’s Staff Unit.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell; two sons, Ryan and Sean Middaugh; step-daughter, Crystal Poppens; step-son, Robert Wonnell; brothers, Larry Lemon, Gaylen Middaugh, and John’s twin brother, James Middaugh; three sisters, Carol Graham, Earlene Fry and Judy Hobgood; his granddaughter, Clementine Middaugh; as well as five step-grandchildren, other relatives, and many friends.
