In Memory: Robert Perry Hill Sr.

Robert Perry Hill, Sr., 89, of Kansas City North, joined his beloved wife Vivian in their eternal home on September 4, 2009.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by Masonic and Rose Croix services at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Park Lawn South Chapel, Hillcrest Road at 83rd Street, Kansas City.  Burial will follow in Mount Washington Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, you may honor Bob’s memory with a donation to the Ararat Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, MO 64129.

Bob was born March 1, 1920 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Perry C. and Myrle L. (Hughes) Hill. He and his wife Vivian owned Clinton Bakery in Clinton, MO until they returned to Kansas City.  While in Clinton, Bob became a Master Mason at
Clinton Masonic Lodge in 1952. He was also instrumental in establishing a Boy’s Ranch in Nevada, MO. Bob became a Master Baker and was a long-standing member of the Bakery and Confectionery Union. He served as President of both the Kansas City and Kansas Bakers’ Associations.  Bob was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Kansas City, the York Rite, and was a very active member of Ararat Shrine Temple.  At Ararat, Bob volunteered his time as a driver to the St. Louis Shriners’ Hospital for patients and their families, served for its Provost, and was a proud member of the Patrol Unit where he served as President and Captain.  He was also past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Vivian L. (Rogers) Hill in 1995, and his brother, Paul C. Hill in 1995. Those who will treasure Bob’s memory include his three children and their spouses, Janice and Ron Bumgarner of Holt, MO, Paula Diane and John Vutich of Gladstone, MO, and Robert Jr. and Debby Hill of Kansas City; seven grandchildren, Alisa, Scott, Steven, Stacey, Tammy, April and Michael; eleven great grandchildren, Timothy, Melissa, Ashley, Vivian, Vincent, Vanessa, Veanna, Steven, McKenzie, Tanner and Haley; and two great-great granddaughters, Joslyn and Riley; as well as many friends.  Bob was greatly loved and will be missed by all.  You may send a message to the family or sign an on-line guest book via www.parklawnfunerals.com.  Arrangements: Park Lawn Funeral Home (816) 523-1234.
