James William Schaad, 66, of Independence, MO, passed away December 19, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm, followed by a rose ceremony by the Royal Order of Jesters at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 26th, at the Ararat Shrine Temple, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, MO 64129. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Ararat Shrine Cornerstone Fund.
Jim was born December 22, 1942 in Rochester, N.Y., the son of George and Eunice Schaad. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eunice, and sister, Patricia Mealey. He served in the U.S. Army and Navy Reserves and later in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1963 on the USS O’Brien during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of the |

American Legion. Jim worked for Trans World Airlines, later American Airlines, for 41 years prior to retirement in 2005. He was a member of Rising Sun Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Kansas City, and Ararat Shrine Temple. At Ararat, Jim was a member of the Greeter Unit, the Order of Quetzalcoatl, and the Royal Order of Jesters. He also currently served as the Temple’s Recorder.
Jim leaves his wife of 38 years, Joyce (Hundley) Schaad; three children, James W. Schaad, Jr. (Cristy) of Castro Valley, CA, John Schaad of San Mateo, CA, and Nicole Schaad of Independence, MO; granddaughter, Sydney Schaad; father, George W. Schaad of Blue Springs, MO; sister, Helen Cohen (Martin) of Burlingame, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
