In Memory: Michael Joseph Benne
Michael Joseph Benne, 63, Police Chief of Platte Woods, MO, passed away May 19, 2017, at North Kansas City Hospital surrounded by loved ones.  Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm, followed by a service celebrating Mike's life at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, May 24, at Platte Woods United Methodist Church, 7310 NW Prairie View Road, Platte Woods. Burial will follow in Camden Point Community Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Mike was born September 15, 1953, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Clarence and Joanne (Hubbard) Benne. He graduated from Park Hill High School and received law enforcement certification at Maple Woods Community College. Mike served in the U.S. Air Force. His career in law enforcement began with the City of Riverside and for the past four-plus decades he served the City of Platte Woods, the last six years as Police Chief. Mike was a member of the Fidelity Masonic Lodge #339 in Farley, MO and Ararat Shrine Temple where he was a member of its Provost.

Along with his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his step-brother, Bart Benne.  Survivors include his brothers, Clint Benne (Lynn) and Vince Benne (LaDonna) and numerous nieces and nephews.  He also leaves his longtime companion, Susan Morrow and her son, Connor; as well as other family members and many friends in the communities he faithfully served.
