Ararat
Drum & Bugle Corps Celebrates 85 Years of Excellence
The Drum
and Bugle Corps was formed in 1921 by members living in
the Independence, Mo. area and was named Tarara, which
is Ararat spelled backward. The Corps has performed in
almost every major city in the nation during Imperial
Sessions from 1924 through the present.
As a marching
musical unit, the Drum and Bugle Corps is very popular
with the people attending parades and with other non-musical
marching units by providing cadence and musical vitality
to the many parades in our jurisdiction.
The Drum
& Bugle Corps, and our crowd favorite Red Fire Truck
appear in 8 to 10 parades a year. We parade mainly on
Saturdays in communities from Warsaw to Sugar Creek and
Independence to Boonville. We also compete once a year
at our annual convention called CSSA. At CSSA we compete
against Drum & Bugle Corps made up of Shriners from
all over the mid-west.
Interested
in joining one of the true legends in Kansas City music?
It's easy, give our Membership Chairman a call and he'll
get you all the information you need. The Corps meets
for rehearsals March - October on Tuesday evenings between
7:30 - 9:00 at Ararat Shrine. We have a monthly business
meeting on the 1st Tuesday of the month were we discuss
the business of the unit and upcoming events.
There is
nothing more fun then getting the opportunity to play
your horn or drum, having fun with the Shriners and doing
it all for the support of our kids in the Shrine Hospital
program.
We
March, so that our Kids may Walk!
