The Mardi gras Party on March 1st will be our first social of the year and promises to be a great time. Nick Baldi, Ron Knold and Steve Johnson are all aids this year and are putting the party together with help from some of our Patrol Ladies. The buffet starts at 5PM and Cocktails at 6PM. The Patrol has purchased 2 tables, so the first 20 Patrolmen and/or their wives get in free.
The Shrine will not be going dark this year. The Patrol never does because we are already there for Central States practice.
There is a proposed change to our by laws you should be aware of. It is being sent out by email and the U.S. mail to all voting members. We have for some time had a member at large and upon review of our by laws it was noted that the position was not clearly recognized. The purpose of this proposed change is to ensure that the member at large is recognized in the by-laws. If approved, this change will be forwarded to the Divan and ultimately the Potentate for approval.
This is the proposed change: “Member at Large
Resolved, that the Ararat Arab Patrol will have a position, in the Civil Line, for Member At Large. The Member At Large will be a regular member of the Executive Board. This member will serve a 1 year term with no limitation on how many terms can be served. The primary function of this position is to serve as a liaison between the members and the Executive Board of the Ararat Arab Patrol. The position will be filled by a simple majority of those members voting:
Imperial session. I need to know by the next meeting those members who can and will make it to Imperial on the last weekend of June and first two days of July. We need a solid commitment at our March meeting so we can decide if we will compete or not.
Congratulations to Nick Baldi on his appointment as Second Lieutenant and Dave Bennifield’s appointment as membership chairman.
Our respects and condolences go out to the family and friends of George Hodle who passed away. George was an honorary member who has been living in Arizona for the past few years. He will be missed.
If you don’t but would like to get the Patrol Newsletter
via e-mail send me a note via e-mail and I can add you
to the list. My e-mail is rmb64078@fairpoint.net
